Taco Truck

My late night, post-bar cravings for snacks have never been more satisfied after visiting this taco truck on Bedford Ave. and N. 6th St in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I stumbled upon the truck in a fit of rage after finding out that Subway is not open at 2:30am (die Subway), and now this little kitchen on wheels will hold a permanent parking spot in my Friday night lineup of bar-hopping, making out with strangers, and binge feasting.

The taco truck attracts many of the hipster locals, who despite wearing size 0 skinny jeans, somehow manage to down burritos that are larger than many newborn babies. Upon arriving at the truck's window, I ordered a chicken burrito, while my friend ordered the same only with "a lot of spicy things." We sat at some nearby benches to devour our children, I mean burritos, and I can honstly say that I have never been happier than I was after taking that first bite. After two minutes of ravenous feasting, I looked over to my friend, who was shoving burrito into her mouth while tears were falling down her face. Her mouth, she tried to say, was on fire, but she continued eating anyway, all while crying. Whether it was from her loud sobs, my loud laughter, or the fact that we were both covered in burrito debris, people were starting to stop and stare. We left, but I know that we will be back soon, baby.

CV Preview

Last night I popped over the the Lower East Side for the CV preview in the old 105 Rivington space. CV is 105 in Roman numerals. Very clever.

The intimate lounge was built in only three weeks (wow), and I loved the feel. The walls had rustic but polished looking wood, and there was whimsical wallpaper, rich leathers, and a circled bar.

It's the hottest new venue -- I will definitely be back for some cocktails, and Nicola will be there for the Project Runway final episode viewing party tonight!

Strolling down the popular Bedford Ave. of Williamsburg, its almost too easy to miss one of its greatest little treasures, ViceVersa. This thrift store carries everthing one could ever want at prices lower than I have ever seen in NYC. The store particularly appeals to men, as it carries a large selection of men's clothing, but it still has much to offer for women. If you are looking for a quality leather or fur jacket, make sure to check out this spot; you'll be sure to find an animal carcass that tickles your fancy. I came across a gorgeous Wilson's Leather jacket which I bought for $30, as well as a large fur hat for $10. The fur jackets range from about $40 to $75, and the majority of them are actually real, rather than faux, fur. So if you want to stay warm this winter (or upset an animal rights activist) get there fast!

Sea, the Hot Place to Be

There really is nothing more enticing than nightlife at Sea, a Thai restaurant in hipster capital Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With three branches of Spice, and one other Sea in Manhattan, this Brooklyn hotspot draws in the crowds every night of the week. The space is especially enchanting, with its Buddha statue, its glistening pool of water, and seventies-style lounge bubble chairs, not to mention its most prized decorations--two fully stocked bars as opposite ends of the restaurant.


Downtown club meets zen garden, as DJs pump out the music while guests either sit down to eat impressively crafted meals or sip on some exotic drinks at the bar. Everything on the menu is excellent, especially the "Volcano Chicken" which comes to your table lit on fire and basted in the richest, most delicious sauce, while small veggies and noodles surround the plate. Oh, and by the way, everything is super cheap. For me, two (non-alcoholic) drinks, two appetizers, and two main dishes came to $40, without tip. Definitely a place to hit up, but get there early, because the restaurant does not take reservations. -- Rory McNea
